Language, and cultural barriers can be challenging and can lead to communication difficulties, patient dissatisfaction and as a result, a lower quality of care. By increasing their intercultural competence, health professionals can enhance the quality of care by bridging communication and cultural gaps and reduce frustration and misunderstanding between doctors, nurses and patients. In this workshop, you will gain awareness about how culture affects communication, behaviour and attitudes in the healthcare sector. You will receive advise on how to avoid miscommunication, by exploring differences in cultural values and expectations and how these affect interactions between healthcare professional and patients.
